ABOUT THE THERAPIST

Dave Dodge, L.C.S.W. - Psychotherapist

My name is Dave Dodge and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, (L.C.S.W.) welcoming you to my beautiful office at 128 Radio Circle Drive in Mt. Kisco, N.Y.

For the last twenty-five years, I have helped 100’s of people overcome their anxiety, fears, phobias, panic attacks, anger/rage, P.T.S.D., Depression, and, even, physical pain issues with accompanying issues related to problems with drugs/alcohol, food/weight issues, as well as problems with their familial or social networks.

I did this by using cutting-edge, very effective Alternative methods such as E.M.D.R., E.F.T, Brainspotting, W.H.E.E. Therapy, Ask and Receive, The Sedona Method, as well as other releasing methods.

These methods release the disturbing memories that create our negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors. These memories are stored in the deeper parts of the brain and are the root causes of our mental/emotional issue(s) (i.e., anxiety, worry, panic, fear, phobias, depression, anger, guilt, shame, even physical pain, etc.). Because these memories are stored in the deeper parts of the brain they cannot be accessed by talk therapy, therefore, traditional talk therapy is not effective in releasing our deeper issues even though it can help to relieve some negative at times.

These methods are easy, quick and very effective. As I have worked with these methods over the years, it has been my experience that once the disturbing memories (along with any “extra-charge” of emotion connected to the memories) are released so too are the issue(s) that the client initially came in with to work on. Length of treatment depends on the level of intensity and duration of the disturbing event/events the client initially experienced.

In the beginning of therapy, I focus on why the client came into therapy and what are their needs, wants and expectations of the process. I then make a thorough assessment of each client around those wants and needs, and discuss how they wish to proceed.

I combine traditional talk therapy with a number of Alternative therapeutic methods to incorporate depending on the needs and desires of the client and what is most appropriate and helpful to the client. I work with each client based on what the client says they need and want. The most important thing in my practice is to "be where the client is at".

I take great pains to do just exactly that. Instead of imposing my views on you as to what I think is best, it is very important that you know that you have your own "answers" and I am there to empower you to find those answers. I will present different options to you that you can use to get better but it is up to you to choose which techniques or methods are best for you.

I do all this with a deep sense of empathy, compassion, and respect for the client and am sensitive to their individual therapeutic process (a lot of clients say these are some of my strongest qualities along with my down-to-earthness which makes it easy the client feel safe and comfortable when talking to me).
